Ingredients
- Beef 500g (your choice of cut)
- 2 Garlic Cloves (chopped)
- 2 tbsp Fresh Ginger (chopped)
- 3 tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 4 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1/4 tsp Bicarb powder
- 1 cup Chicken Stock
- 2 tbsp Rice Wine Vinegar
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 1 1/2 tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp Cornflour
- 1 whole Broccoli (cut into florets)
- 1 Brown Onion (sliced)
- Toasted Sesame Seeds
Method
- Slice your beef into thin strips (or use already sliced stir-fry beef) and set aside in a bowl
- Add half of the chopped garlic, half of the chopped ginger and all the bicarb to the bowl with the beef and mix through
- To the bowl of beef, pour over 1 tbsp of the Oyster Sauce and 1 tbsp of the Soy sauce and set bowl aside
- In a separate bowl, mix together the remaining ingredients for the sauce
- Toss the beef and sliced onion in a hot pan or wok until beef is just browned, then remove and set aside
- Pour the sauce into the same hot pan and let it simmer until it starts to thicken (you can slowly add a bit more cornstarch mixed with water if you find the sauce is still too thin)
- While the sauce is simmering, steam the broccoli florets in a steamer or quickly blanch in boiling water until fork tender
- Throw the broccoli and beef back into the pan and make sure everything is fully coated in the sauce
- Serve alongside boiled rice, noodles or on it's own and finish with a sprinkling of sesame seeds
