Ingredients
- 500g chicken thigh
- 1 packet Obento Japanese Fried Chicken Mix Karaage
- 2 cups of oil with high smoking point, such as rice bran oil for deep frying
- Kewpie Yuzu mayonnaise, for dipping
Method
- Cut the chicken into bite size pieces.
- Coat 500g cubed chicken with 50g Obento Chicken Karaage coating mix. Leave to stand for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Whilst waiting, heat up the oil until it reaches 160-170 degree Celcius
- Deep fry chicken in hot oil for 3-4 minutes or until cooked
- Alternatively, you can cook the chicken in an air fryer. Spray the chicken liberally with oil. Set the air fryer to 200°C and cook for 10-20 minutes. Flip the chicken halfway through and continue air frying until it is fully cooked.
- Serve the karaage chicken over steamed rice with a drizzle of Kewpie yuzu mayonnaise. For a complete meal, pair it with a simple salad and a bowl of miso soup.
