About Lunar New Year
Lunar New Year (or Chinese New Year) is an important Chinese festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. The celebrations traditionally run from the first day of the Chinese Lunar Calendar to the 15th day of the first calendar month. As the festival is also celebrated in Korea and other South-East Asian countries, we are calling it the Lunar New Year festival.
This year, the Lunar New Year will be celebrated on 25th January 2020 which is the first day of the Lunar calendar. According to Chinese astrology, each year is associated with an animal sign from a 12-year Chinese Zodiac cycle. The year of 2020 is represented by the Rat which occupies the first position in the 12-year cycle.
