Ingredients
- 1kg Pork Shoulder
- 1 beef stock cube
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon fresh or dried ginger
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon 5 spice powder
- 1/4 cup sweet chilli sauce
- 2 star anise
- Frozen bao buns from freezer section of supermarket
- 2 carrots, julienned
- 1 cucumber, julienned
- Spring onions, hoisin sauce and sesame seeds for garnish
- Kewpie mayonnaise
Method
- Place pulled pork with first 9 ingredients in slow cooker. Cook for 4 hours on high or 6 hours on low. Shred and keep some of the sauce reserved to ensure the pork stays moist
- Prepare vegetables with a sharp knife (julienne carrots and cucumber, slice spring onions)
- Heat Bao buns as per packet instructions. Assemble with pork, vegetables and garnish with kewpie mayo, hoisin sauce, spring onions and sesame seeds
