By: Georgina Bowe
Ingredients
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp sesame oil (or any oil)
- 1 tsp grated ginger (or lazy ginger from a jar, no judgement)
- 1–2 tbsp ABC Sweet Soy Sauce (Kecap Manis)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp ABC Tomato Ketchup (the menace move)
- 1–1.5 litres chicken or veggie stock
- 1 packet frozen dumplings (pork, chicken, veggie – whatever you’ve got)
- 1 handful baby spinach or bok choy
- 2 spring onions, sliced
- Cup of mixed exotic mushrooms (optional)
- Optional: chilli oil, cracked pepper, squeeze of lime, dry Nori and sesame seeds to serve

- ABC - SWEET SOY SAUCE
- ABC - SWEET SOY SAUCE
Method
- In a big pot, heat oil over medium.
- Add garlic and ginger. Cook until fragrant (30–60 seconds, don’t burn it, babe).
- Stir in the sweet soy, soy sauce, and that glorious spoon of ketchup. Let it bubble for 30 seconds so it caramelises slightly
- Pour in stock. Bring to a gentle boil.
- Drop in frozen dumplings. Cook according to packet (usually 5–8 mins).
- Add greens in the last minute so they stay bright and fresh. This is where I added my exotic mushrooms and also some dry nori.
- Taste and adjust more soy for salt, more sweet soy, if you’re feeling rebellious.
- Serve with spring onions and chilli oil if you want that dramatic main character energy. And let's not forget another little drizzle over the top of the ABC sweet soy with some sesame seeds
