Ingredients
- 500gms boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 stalk green onion finely sliced (optional garnish)
- 1/2 tsp sesame seeds (optional garnish)
- 1/4 cup sake
- 1/4 cup regular soy sauce
- 1/4 cup mirin
- 2 tsp garlic minced
- 1 tsp ginger minced
- 1.5 tbsp white sugar
Method
- Slice chicken thighs into thirds
- Combine sake, soy sauce, sugar, mirin, garlic and ginger in a saucepan and mix well. Bring to the boil and let bubble for 2 minutes and set aside
- Lightly coat the chicken in cornstarch on both sides
- Over a medium heat in a fry pan add oil and fry chicken on both sides until browned. About 3- 5 minutes each side
- Pour the sauce over the top of the chicken and let it bubble to reduce and thicken in the fry pan for about 1-3 minutes. Flip the chicken once more and simmer for 30 seconds more
- Serve immediately with rice and optional garnish. Enjoy! 😍
