
Ingredients
- Main Ingredients: • 1 fish fillet (mackerel or white fish) • ½ block firm tofu, cut into cubes • 1 cup bean sprouts • 1 green onion, chopped • ½ green bell pepper, sliced
- Seasoning & Sauce: • 1 tbsp sesame oil • ¼ cup cooking sake • 2 tbsp soy sauce • 1 tbsp mirin (optional, for sweetness) • 1 tsp sugar (optional) • 1 tsp grated ginger • 1 clove garlic, minced • ¼ cup dashi stock or water
Method
- 1. Prepare Ingredients: • Cut the fish fillet into portion-sized pieces. • Cut tofu into cubes. • Slice green onions and any other vegetables. • Mince garlic and grate ginger.
- 2. • Heat sesame oil in a pan over medium heat. • Add garlic and ginger, stirring until fragrant.
- 3.Steam the Fish with Cooking Sake: • Place the fish fillet skin-side down in the pan. • Pour in cooking sake, soy sauce, and mirin. • Add dashi stock (or water) and tofu cubes. • Cover and steam for 5–7 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
- 4. Stir fry the vegetables • In a separate pan, heat sesame oil. • Add bean sprouts, green onions, and bell peppers. • Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, seasoning with cooking sake, soy sauce, and a pinch of sugar.
- 5. Assemble & Serve: • Place the cooked fish and tofu on a plate. • Arrange the stir-fried vegetables on the side. • Drizzle any remaining sauce from the pan over the fish.
